Real Weddings

Sean and Kerrie met while working for the same company in the country. Sean moved to Brisbane and they stayed in touch a bit. They later met up again when Kerrie was on holidays at the Gold Coast and both ended up in Sydney and according to Kerrie, “the rest is history!”

Sean and Kerrie had been trekking in Nepal and after 17 days reached Kala Pattar Mountain – some 5,545m above sea level near Mt Everest. When they reached the summit they sheltered from the freezing wind behind some rocks. Sean knelt down and proposed.

“Of course I said yes, then we both decided to get the hell off the mountain cause we were both frozen! He was very brave to proposed after 17 days of camping, without a shower and putting up with me suffering from altitude sickness!”

Fast forward to the 25th of November, 2008 when they were married in the Southern Highlands.

They had their entire day at Fountaindale Grand Manor including the boys and girls getting ready there.

Both had guests coming from Sydney and the Southern Tablelands so the Southern Highlands was a good central location. “The scenery is beautiful. It was also really easy to organise from Sydney, all the companies we dealt with had good websites we could explore. they were all really professional and made planning the wedding really easy.”

Kerrie really wanted a natural and relaxed wedding. Their wedding rings were made from recycled gold, their invitations from recycled paper that had Australian native seeds in it so people could plant the invite afterwards. They continued their recycled paper theme with their thankyou cards. “The bonbonniere was brilliant. We gave all our guests a living plant (marigold).” The tables decorated simply with candles, rose petals and dodder vine to continue Kerrie’s organic theme.
