Alex met Malcolm online via the RSVP.com dating website. Sometime later, Malcolm’s proposal involved putting an engagement ring inside a kinder surprise and giving it to Alex. “It was certainly the best surprise EVER!” exclaims Alex.

Alex and Malcolm chose to get married in the Southern Highlands “…because of what our venue had to offer. It helped that Mal’s family was from Bowral but the majority of people had to travel and they all had a great place to stay” Whilst they live in Canberra and it would have made sense to get married there, Alex “…wanted a pretty unique kind of wedding and couldn’t find anywhere that would be able to cater for us.”

“Fountaindale Grand Manor could do everything we wanted plus more. Kylie went out of her way to help us find quotes for styling and didn’t have a problem with us using the lawn and surrounds for everything we needed. The thing that sold me on this venue though was the accommodation and the fact that us and our guests would be the only people there. No other guests just us. So it was like having a giant home for the weekend to celebrate our special day. I even wore my PJ’s down for breakfast the morning of the wedding!”

For Alex and Malcolm’s day, everything happened at Fountaindale, including their preperations and their photos. “I liked the idea of being able to walk to the ceremony, walk around to get photos and walk up to the reception.”

After having some trouble finding someone who could style the wedding in the way Alex invisioned she came across She Designs per Jonathan’s recommendation. After meeting Sheree the theme for the wedding was set as ‘Modern Vintage’

“I think the Southern Highlands have amazing suppliers, just as great if not better than any suppliers you get in the big city’s. They will travel, they are reasonable in price and worth the trip to the beautiful Highlands to check out…”

“The whole day was just amazing, watching the whole reception being set up from 7.00am was fab, no one knew what the end result was going to look like until the end of the day and it was just magical.”

Alex’s tip for your SH wedding:

“The night before loads of guests arrived, it was great to be able to spend some time with them because on the day it’s all a blur! It goes so fast and you never get time to speak to everyone. Also the next morning breakfast is included with the accommodation so it was great to be able to sit and chat to people farewell everyone properly.

The Southern Highlands is such a beautiful picturesque place to be, when you have awesome suppliers who know the area and are trustworthy you have nothing to worry about except to turn up and have the best day of your life.”
